I feel like my mental stability is hanging from a cliff with broken fingers, suspended in time, over sharp spikes protruding from lava. Dark as it may be, I'm not in good head space right now. I fight my demons every day with all my soul, but I don't feel like I'm winning right now. Don't get me wrong, I'll finish my work, I'll do it to the best of my abilities, but I have a great deal to learn. I have a lot to improve. I'm tired of half compliments. I need to be better, for me, not for everyone else, and I need to improve at MY own rate. I need to figure out how to meet my own expectations before I can meet anyone else's...

It finds us all eventually. Nothing truly stands the merciless march of time. It afflicts everyone differently. Hardens some, breaks others. Death is a heavy thing. It's a complicated weave, this life, of trying to find things worth living with, worth living for, and even harder yet, worth exposing yourself to the inevitable moment that the light in their eyes and the air in their lungs ceases to be. It's deceptive almost... how much easier it is to love an animal than another human. To grow and care for any enormous variety of shapes and sizes and species of pets. Its all so easy until it isn't. A small life left my presence today, and yet I feel the world is so much darker for it.
